AGILITY AND SPEED
While running in soccer should be the most natural thing in the world, it actually takes a high degree of body awareness, muscular strength and core stability to have a smooth and efficient running stride as you chase an opponent or evade one of your own.
The more efficient a running stride is, the faster you can go, the faster you can accelerate and the faster you can recover from hard efforts. If your core is weak, your muscles are unbalanced and your form is poor, then pain and injury in the back, hip, leg, knee and ankle can occur - it's so frustrating not being able to run because of injury.
Pilates For Sports is the ultimate whole body exercise system - it can help to improve core strength and muscle balance and is always done in the context of how to improve your running form, change of direction and ball striking. In this way it becomes very clear how Pilates For Sports can play a big role in not only preventing injury but also in improving performance. If you're looking to overcome some of these issues or simply keen to take the next step in your soccer, Pilates For Sports might just be the solution you have been looking for. Our programs are customised to your individual needs. We develop a program that will best enable you to achieve the core strength and muscle balance required to help you realise your running goals. So why not take the Pilates For Sports challenge to "Be Your Best".
AVAILABLE CONFIGURATION
EFFICIENCY
An inefficient running stride means that you are using more energy than you need to run at that pace. Pilates for Sports teaches hockey players to be aware of how they are currently running and then helps them build a strong core to ensure that every bit of power they generate goes into their running stride. This comes about through the strengthening of the powerhouse, knowledge of how to engage it and the correct tracking of the arms and legs. This controlled efficient movement will also reduce the chance of injury.
BALANCE
Many of the issues a hockey player experiences, arise from muscle imbalance. When we talk about a runner having a muscle imbalance, we mean that some muscles are overworking and other muscles are not doing their fair share of the work. The impact on hockey players is inefficient running, a slower pace and an increased chance of injury. This is where Pilates can help. Pilates is a perfect way to cross train, as it moves the body in all of the directions it is designed to move, therefore restoring balance. As someone once said: “You don’t need Pilates For Sports to play hockey, but you may play better and with less pain if you do Pilates For Sports”
